Winnipeg Homicide #5 – Police investigate the murder of Heather Marie Cheyane Beardy

Winnipeg police responded to a report of Suspicious Circumstances at an apartment block located in the 400 block of Furby Street on February 2nd at approcimately 1:10pm.

On arrval police located the body of Heather Marie Cheyane BEARDY, 26. Her case of death has not been released, however, police are investigating her death as a homicide.

Information will be added as it becomes available.

Update: On February 28th police arrested Amos Joe Kematch, 27, of Winnipeg, and charged him with Second Degree Murder.

Update March 10th 2022
Winnipeg police are asking the public for their assistance with locating a second suspect, Leah Carol Clifton, a 34-year-old female of Winnipeg. Clifton is wanted on a Canada Wide warrant for Second Degree Murder.

Clifton is a white female, 5’6” tall and weighs approximately 140-150 lbs with a medium build. She has a tattoo with the words “RIP Dean” on the right side of her neck.

Update:
Leah Carol CLIFTON was arrested by Winnipeg police on June 24th at a residence in the 500 block of Spence Street. CLIFTON had outstanding warrants for the homicide of Heather Beardy on February 2, 2022, and the homicide of Doris Trout on May 19, 2022. She has been charged with second-degree murder X 2.

Police said the two homicides were unrelated, however, the accused CLIFTON and both victims were acquaintances and involved in the drug subculture.
