Prince Edward Island 2026 Homicide Victim List
Police responded to a report of shots fired around 8 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, on Route 125, also known as Hackmatack Road, a remote rural dirt road in the Urbainville area. A vehicle involved in the incident had crashed into a ditch.
A 35-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 50-year-old woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries and later died. Police are investigating both deaths as homicides.
The victims’ families have asked for privacy.
“Incidents like this are uncommon in our province, and we take this investigation very seriously,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore, the PEI RCMP media relations officer. Moore acknowledged the public’s interest in the case but said investigators cannot release all the details because doing so could jeopardize the investigation.
“Our ultimate goal is to hold those responsible for crimes like this accountable,” Moore said, adding that the safety of Islanders remains a priority and that police’s thoughts are with the victims’ families.
