Ottawa 2026 Homicide Victim List

The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit and the Sûreté du Québec are investigating the suspicious deaths of two Ottawa residents following separate incidents in Quebec and Ottawa.

Just before 1 a.m. on August 22, 2026, Sûreté du Québec officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 50, east of Papineauville, Quebec. A person found inside the vehicle had injuries that were considered suspicious. The individual was taken to hospital but later died.

As the investigation continued, Quebec authorities requested assistance from the Ottawa Police Service. At approximately 11:09 a.m., Ottawa police officers attended a residence on Guigues Avenue in Ottawa, where they discovered a second deceased person.

Police have not released the identities of the two victims as they work to notify their next of kin.

An increased police presence may be visible in the area while investigators collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
