Update – Winnipeg police arrest Leah Carol CLIFTON in relation to the homicide of Doris Lydia Trout

Winnipeg Police Service responded to a  report of an injured female located at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Kennedy Street on May 19th at approximately 4:30am.

On arrival police located Doris Lydia TROUT, 25, of Winnipeg, deceased in a common area of the building. Her cause of death has not been revealed, however, police say her death is a homicide.

Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying two people of interest, as seen in the images below.

Update On June 7th 2022 Winnipeg police arrested Meagan Leigh BEAULIEU, 27, of Winnipeg and charged her with:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Fail to Attend Court (Release Order)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order 

Police have issued a warrant Leah Carol CLIFTON, 34, of Winnipeg who is wanted on a Second Degree murder charge in relation to the homicide of Doris Lydia TROUT.

CLIFTON is also wanted for the homicide of Heather BEARDY which occurred in the 400 block of Furby Street on February 2, 2022. 

Her whereabouts remain unknown as she is actively evading the police. Investigators request public assistance in determining her whereabouts.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update:
Leah Carol CLIFTON was arrested by Winnipeg police on June 24th at a residence in the 500 block of Spence Street. CLIFTON had outstanding warrants for the homicide of Heather Beardy on February 2, 2022, and the homicide of Doris Trout on May 19, 2022. She has been charged with second-degree murder X 2.

Police said the two homicides were unrelated, however, the accused CLIFTON and both victims were acquaintances and involved in the drug subculture.
