Edmonton police responded to a weapons complaint north of 144 Avenue and 72 Street at approximately 6:25 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
On arrival police located Usama Ibrahinidan, 20, deceased in the street. The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Monday, Mar. 20, 2023, and confirmed that Ibrahinidan, died from gunshot injuries. The manner of death is homicide.
Anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the 144 Avenue and 72 Street area on the day and time of the shooting to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.
Update April 11th
Edmonton police believe the murder of Usama Ibrahinadan, is linked to the Mar. 7 murders of Mohamed Fofanah and Mya Abialmouna. Detectives believe Ibrahinadan was mistaken for one of Fofanah’s close associates who lived in the same building as Ibrahinadan.
Investigators are releasing video of the shooter and two other people of interest. The Suspect is seem in a unique black “Hugo” brand sweatsuit and black Yeezy brand shoes discharging a firearm.


Prior to the shooting, the suspect is captured on video with two males, one in a blue “Jeune Studios” brand tracksuit and one in red Adidas track pants and red and white Air Jordan shoes.
