York Regional police responded to a report of an injured person at a commercial property near Langstaff Road and Jane Street on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 2:36 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a male inside one of the units with visible signs of trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified by the Office of the Chief Coroner on Thursday, August 28, 2025, as 41-year-old Deuvane Donald FRANCIS, from Toronto.

The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds.

Investigators also reported seeing a white, four-door 2016 Honda Civic fleeing the scene around 12:22 p.m. on August 26, 2025. The vehicle has since been recovered.

This is being treated as a targeted incident, and police are urging any witnesses or anyone with security footage from the area to come forward.
