Toronto police announce the city’s 86th homicide of 2024 – Ronald White fatally stabbed in Scarborough

The Toronto Police Service announced on March 19th 2025, that they are investigating a homicide following a stabbing that occurred on October 15, 2024, around 2:25 a.m. in the area of Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

Police found a male victim with stab wounds, performed lifesaving measures, and transported him to the hospital in serious condition. He was treated and later released from the hospital.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Sukhdeep Rana from Toronto, was arrested on November 4, 2024, and charged with multiple offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon and aggravated assault. He was scheduled to appear in court on November 5, 2024.

Sadly, the victim, 65-year-old Ronald White from Toronto, passed away on October 31, 2024, due to complications from the stabbing. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death was linked to the injuries from the attack.

On March 19, 2025, the charges against Sukhdeep Rana were upgraded to first-degree murder and attempted murder. He was scheduled to appear in court again on that date.

Police said this incident marked Toronto’s 86th homicide of 2024. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
