Niagara Falls Homicide Victim List

A serious assault in Niagara Falls has turned into a homicide investigation after the victim died several days after the incident.

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers from 2 District responded to a business on Lundy’s Lane near Hanan Avenue at approximately 6:22 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim without vital signs. Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) paramedics performed life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation was initially handled by the 2 District Criminal Investigations Branch. Investigators determined that the man had been assaulted by two suspects, who fled the area following the incident. Police identified the suspects and began searching for them with assistance from the NRPS Canine Unit.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Matthew McAra, died from his injuries on Monday, September 21. Following his death, the case was transferred to the NRPS Homicide Unit.

Police have identified two Niagara Falls men as suspects in the case. Thirty-one-year-old Brandon Fitzgerald and 46-year-old Alexander Piccirillo are both wanted on charges of second-degree murder.

Investigators believe the incident was targeted.

Police are asking residents and businesses in the Lundy’s Lane and Hanan Avenue area to check security or surveillance footage from the time surrounding the incident. Anyone who may have captured the suspects on video is asked to contact police.
