Northwest Territories 2026 Homicide Victim List

Four people have been arrested and remain in custody following a fatal shooting in Inuvik early Monday morning.

At approximately 6:52 a.m. on September 14, Inuvik RCMP responded to a report of gunshots being fired inside a residence on Bompas Street. Police say both the victim and the suspects had left the residence before officers arrived.

A male victim was located a short time later at Inuvik Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Northwest Territories Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Inuvik RCMP, conducted an extensive investigation and worked to secure the scene and locate the individuals believed to be involved. The investigation involved a significant police presence in the community.

Police have requested a search warrant as investigators continue gathering and examining evidence from the residence.

Authorities believe there are no remaining suspects at large in connection with the incident. The RCMP has also expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges have not yet been laid. Police say additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
