The 2021 BC Homicide Victim List is available here

On Wednesday September 8th Saanich Police responded to a 911 report of an injured man at a multi unit home on Battleford Avenue at approximately 11:30am.

Police arrived and located the male victim deceased. Police have not released the identity of the victim or the cause of death at this time. According to reports, Construction Workers heard a voice that wasn’t recognizable as female or male calling out for help.

Saanich police say they believe this is an isolated incident and the perpetrator and victim are likely known to each other.

Update September 1st, 2022
On August 30, 2022, VIIMCU arrested Scott Matheson in Penticton and charged him with second degree murder in relation to the homicide of 64-year-old Robert Dobronay, who had been living in the basement suite.
