The Nunavut RCMP Major Crime Unit announced on April 24th 2026 that they are investigating the death of 35-year-old Mosesie “Levi” Pishuktie as a homicide.
In the early morning hours of August 16, 2025, around 2:50 a.m., Iqaluit RCMP responded to a request for assistance from EMS at a residence on Tasilik Street. Upon arrival, officers found EMS attending to Pishuktie, who had sustained serious injuries.
He was first taken to Qikiqtani General Hospital before being airlifted to Ottawa, Ontario, for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, Pishuktie died from his injuries on August 25, 2025.
Following his death, the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit assumed control of the investigation and has classified the case as a homicide.
