A 28-year-old man is in custody following a police investigation into a violent incident that resulted in the death of another man earlier this evening.
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, around 5:00 p.m., Brantford police were called to a trail area near Grand River Avenue and Morrell Street after reports of a disturbance involving two men.
When police arrived, they learned that one of the men had been assaulted and stabbed. Emergency responders provided life-saving measures, but the victim later died from his injuries. A second man, who was also found at the scene and taken to hospital with serious injuries, has since been arrested in connection with the incident. According to The Hamilton Spectator, the victim is 25-year-old James Myerscough.

Investigators believe this was an isolated event, and they confirm that there are no outstanding suspects. The weapon believed to have been used was recovered at the scene, and police say there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
Following the investigation, a 28-year-old Brantford man has been charged with second-degree murder.
