Edmonton police responded to a “check on welfare” on August 31st at a residence in the area of 144 Avenue and 88 A Street.
On arrival police found 29 year old Valerie Maurice, deceased. Maurice did not live at the suite where she was found. An autopsy conducted on September 1st revealed the cause of death to be strangulation.

Update September 6th
Gregory Christopher Tessman, 49, was arrested in Vancouver on September 5th at a East Hastings Homeless shelter. Tessman has been charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of Valerie Maurice.
