Montreal police responded to reports of a woman being stabbed inside an apartment building on Aylwin Street near Sherbrooke Street on April 8th at approximately 7:00pm.

Police and paramedics located a 34-year-old woman suffering from stabbing injuries to the upper body. She was rushed to the hospital where she died of her injuries on April 9th. Her identity has not been released.

A 32-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to hospital for an injury to his hand. He will appear in court next week when he will be formally charged. 

The suspect was known to police for violent incidents like armed assault and uttering threats. Police have not revealed the connection between the victim and the accused.
