Update Victim identified as Julian Moya Cardenas – IHIT investigates a targeted shooting in Langley

Langley police responded to the report of a shooting at a strip mall in the area of 202 Street and 88 Avenue on January 7th at approximately 2:00pm.

Police arrived to find an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts the victim died of his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in to work with Langley RCMP on the case. Police said the investigation in early stages, and the shooting appears to be targeted.

Police said a bystander was also hit during the shooting and was taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injures. Their name is not being releasd.

Update January 9th
The IHIT has identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Julian Moya Cardenas from Langley, who is known to police. Police said initial belief is that this shooting was targeted.
