Hamilton Police are investigating after a person was found dead near the north end of Fruitland Road on Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the area at approximately 8:15 a.m. on July 15 following reports of an unresponsive individual in a culvert. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit has identified the victim as 29-year-old Taranpreet Singh Sidhu of Brampton, Ontario.

Det. Stf. Sgt. Robert DiIanni said police believe the site where his body was found is not where he died. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death at this time as the investigation remains ongoing. According to the Hamilton Spectator Sidhu was discovered lying on the rocks, partially submerged in the water, at the end of the road, beyond a grassy area, at arocky sewer outflow connected to the city’s sewer system.
Investigators say they are continuing to explore every lead but are not yet releasing details about the vehicle they believe was used to transport Sidhu’s body.
Sidhu moved to Canada from India in 2022. He lived in both Brampton and Halifax and worked as a truck driver.
Detectives are asking anyone who had contact with Sidhu or has information about his whereabouts in the days leading up to his death to come forward. They are especially interested in speaking with anyone who may have surveillance, dashcam, or doorbell camera footage that could help the investigation.
Update: According to Detective Sergeant Frank Di Ianni, homicide investigators have identified what they believe is a second crime scene connected to Taranpreet Singh Sidhu’s death. Speaking to The Spectator on Wednesday July 22nd, Di Ianni said the location is in Brampton and is linked to the trucking industry, though he did not disclose any additional details.
At the time of his death Police say Sidhu had recently returned from the U.S. with a legitimate truckload destined for Brampton. Investigators are now working with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to trace his movements and establish a timeline leading up to his death.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Lindsay Filice of the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit at 905-546-2288.
