Officers were called to a home on Thorold Stone Road, near Dorchester Road, at approximately 8:50 p.m. on July 16 after reports that a man had been shot. The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics but later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Mitchell SNODDON of Niagara Falls.
Investigators believe two suspects arrived at the residence, where the victim was shot with a handgun before the pair fled the area. Police say the suspects left in what is believed to be a newer-model white Nissan SUV, possibly a Rogue, that had been parked nearby.
The suspects are described as:
- Suspect 1: A man between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 5’6″ with a slim build and dark skin. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants, dark shoes, sunglasses, and a red bandana.
- Suspect 2: A woman between 18 and 25 years old with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing baggy blue sweatpants, a grey hooded sweatshirt, and white shoes.
The investigation is now being led by the Niagara Regional Police Homicide Unit. Detectives believe the shooting was targeted but are reminding the public to remain cautious, as both suspects and the firearm have not yet been located.
Investigators are asking businesses in the Thorold Stone Road and Dorchester Road area to review any surveillance footage from Thursday evening and contact police if they captured the suspects or the suspect vehicle.
Update: July 20th: 23-year-old Maroof BANGI and 30-year-old Josta Grace MACNEAL are currently wanted for second-degree murder. Detectives believe that BANGI and MACNEAL are likely operating a Black 2021 Mazda CX5 with Ontario license plate DDEC 744.
Detectives believe that BANGI and MACNEAL may take steps to alter their appearance in order to avoid detection, including:
- Changes in facial hair
- Length and/or colour of hair
- Makeup
- Clothing styles
Josta MACNEAL is known to have a distinctive feather tattoo located on the left side of her neck.
Update: Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Homicide Unit have determined that BANGI and MACNEAL are now operating a 2016 Toyota Camry with Ontario license plate DFWX808. The vehicle was last seen on Highway 45 in Hastings, Ontario.
The suspect vehicle has LED headlights and damage on the passenger side front and rear doors. The vehicle also has a large crack on the front driver’s side bumper.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the Toyota Camry involved in the incident was located and recovered by the Saint-Eustache Police Service in Saint-Eustache, Quebec.
Canada-wide warrants have been issued for the arrest of MACNEAL and BANGI. Both individuals remain at large, and investigators are asking the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating them. At this time, it is not known whether MACNEAL and BANGI are travelling in another vehicle.

On Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, Josta MacNeal was arrested in Montreal by members of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
MacNeal is expected to be returned to the Niagara region, where they will face a charge of second-degree murder.
Police are continuing to search for Maaroof Bangi, who remains wanted in connection with the investigation. Authorities say no firearm has been recovered, and Bangi is considered armed and dangerous.
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) is also encouraging Bangi to seek legal counsel and surrender to police.
If the suspect vehicle is observed, please do not approach and call 911.
