The 2025 Toronto Homicide Victim List is available here

Toronto police were called to the area of Front Street West and University Avenue following reports of a medical emergency at The Loose Moose, on December 28, 2025, around 1:20 a.m.

According to investigators, the victim and the suspect became involved in a verbal dispute outside a nearby establishment. The confrontation escalated when the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground. After the victim stood up, he was assaulted a second time, causing him to fall again and lose consciousness. The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to hospital and placed on life support. He later died from his injuries on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Luke Daniel Kellet-Smith of Toronto.

Police arrested 30-year-old Bernard Emeka Oneh of Richmond Hill on December 28, initially charging him with aggravated assault. On January 5, 2026, the charge was upgraded to manslaughter. Oneh was scheduled to appear in court that morning at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
