Calgary police investigate the fatal shooting of Benjamin VirtucioI, at Eau Claire Market

Calgary police we were called to Eau Claire Market, located at 200 Barclay Parade S.W on June 5th at approximately 8:10pm on the report of shots fired.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Benjamin VirtucioI, 29, suffering from serious injuries in the parkade. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Update June 8th
Abdullahi Barakobe, 26, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and kidnapping using a firearm. He will appear in court today, Monday, June 8, 2020.

Investigators believe the attack was a targeted, with connections to drug trafficking. Police continue to search for a number of suspects and a vehicle that is believed to be connected to the homicide. The vehicle is described as a white Mercedes car, possibly a C400 class. The first suspect is described as a man in his 20s, with light-brown skin tone, black hair, short in stature, with a medium build and wearing a white hoodie. The second suspect is described as a black man, tall, with a slim build, wearing a hoodie.

Update June 12th
Calgary police have issued Canada-wide warrants for the arrests of Mahad Sayid Haji BARAKOBE, 27, and Mehdi (also known as Eddy) AL KHOUZAII, 22. Both have been charged with one count each of second-degree murder and kidnapping with a firearm. Mahad Sayid Haji BARAKOBE has identifying tattoos on his left forearm including a machete, bat, and the words “one fear”.
