Arrest made in Toronto’s 38th homicide of the year – Daniel Carmichael dies in hospital as a result of blunt force trauma

Toronto police announced on August 17th that they would like to make the public aware of a homicide that happened on July 9th.

Police responded to a radio call at 291 George Street on July 9th. According to the press release, it is alleged that police and paramedics located 42-year-old Daniel Carmichael complaining of pain to his torso. Carmichael was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. Investigations later revealed that Carmichael died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Police have arrested Alan Smith, 37, of Toronto. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
