On Saturday, May 17, around 5:30 p.m., officers from the Russell County OPP responded to a report of a body in the river near Dallaire Street. The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Robert Prevost of Clarence-Rockland, who was reported missing in early March 2025. He was last seen at his Laurier Street residence in early February.
A postmortem examination confirmed his identity, and the investigation is ongoing. The case is being led by the OPP Crime Unit and Criminal Investigation Branch, with support from the Chief Coroner’s Office, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and other specialized units.
Update June 5th, 2026: Ontario Provincial Police announced that Luc Decarie, 51, of St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Que., is charged with first-degree murder, indignity to a body, and conspiracy to commit murder. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in L’Orignal on Friday.
On June 11th, OPP announced that Jessica St. Michael had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and indignity to a body.
On Thursday June 25th OPP announced Yvon Vieno, 38, of Ottawa is facing charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and indignity to a body.
