Nova Scotia 2026 Homicide Victim List

At approximately 8:25 p.m. on May 31, 2026, RCMP officers responded to reports of a residential fire in Upper Big Tracadie. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, officers discovered the body of a man on the property near the burned residence. He has been identified as Terry Izzard.

The Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is working alongside the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and the Office of the Fire Marshal to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Investigators said it was the second fire at his residence in just over two weeks. His home had already been heavily damaged in a blaze on April 18.

Investigators have not released the identity of the deceased or any details about the cause of death. However, police said they do not believe the case is connected to the homicide that occurred in West Arm Tracadie on May 21.

On June 2, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service determined the manner of death to be homicide. RCMP investigators believe both the homicide and the fires were targeted incidents.
