British Columbia 2026 Homicide Victim List
A homicide investigation is underway after a man was killed during a reported fight in Maple Ridge on the evening of May 30, 2026.
At approximately 6:51 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a call about a disturbance in progress in the 22300 block of River Road. When police arrived, they found a 28-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite emergency medical efforts by first responders, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s family has identified him as Lord Kevin Ayson Olaer.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case and is working alongside the Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crime Unit, Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service as the investigation continues.
Investigators believe the incident was targeted and isolated, and that those involved were known to each other. At this stage, police do not believe the case is connected to gang activity.
IHIT says initial evidence suggests officers were able to quickly secure the scene, helping preserve important forensic evidence. Investigators are now conducting witness interviews to determine the sequence of events that led to the confrontation.
Authorities have extended condolences to the victim’s family and are asking anyone with information to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
