York Regional Police responded to a call for an injured person at a residential address on Laskin Drive near Ilan Ramon Boulevard on September 1st at 2:25 p.m.

Police located Mortgage Broker Rakesh “Rick” JOSHI, 50, of Vaughan, deceased inside the home. Police said Joshi lived at the residence where he was killed.

Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance. Any witnesses or anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage of the area who have not yet spoken with police, are urged to come forward as soon as possible.

Update April 9th 2025
Investigators have identified a black Porsche 911 Turbo made between 2006-2009 as being related to this investigation, as well as this image of a suspect.

Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance and are looking to speak with anyone that may have information surrounding this incident.

Update: On April 28, 2025, Alexander CHERNIAK, 51, of Vaughan, was charged with First-Degree Murder. A black Porsche 911 Turbo that was being sought has been recovered.
