Update Six People Charged – Winnipeg Police Investigate Homicide After Body of 30-Year-Old Man Found on Wellington Avenue

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 9:54 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of suspicious circumstances on the 700 block of Wellington Avenue.

Officers discovered the body of an adult male behind the location, who was later identified as 30-year-old Bronson Emery Dale Kequahtooway, originally from Zagime Anishinabek First Nation in Saskatchewan, but residing in Winnipeg.

Update: On March 29, 2025, around 3:30 p.m., homicide investigators—along with the Tactical Support Team—executed a search warrant at a home in the 700 block of Simcoe Street.

Jeromy Daniel Smith (20), Richard Allen Penonzek (43), and Rochelle Hannah Bella Little (28), all from Winnipeg were charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and remain in custody.

A few days later, on April 3 around 12:15 p.m., officers went to a home in the 500 block of Agnes Street, where they arrested another woman, also without incident. Alana Katherine Edith Anderson (28), also from Winnipeg, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order. She too was held in custody.

Then on April 9 at about 2:00 p.m., investigators—working with the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit—arrested a man in the 400 block of McDermot Avenue. During the arrest, police seized 14 grams of meth (worth about $700) and $320 in cash.

The suspect, Eric Matthew Morrissette (39) of Winnipeg, now faces several charges, including second-degree murder, two counts of possessing firearms or ammunition against a prohibition order, possession of meth for trafficking, and possession of crime proceeds under $5,000.

Most recently, on April 14, homicide investigators arrested Frederick Francis Mathias Baker (28) at Milner Ridge Correctional Centre, where he was already in custody for an unrelated matter. He is now charged with second-degree murder and one count of possessing a prohibited firearm or ammunition, and remains in custody.
