Toronto police responded to the report of a shooting on Saturday, September 24, 2023, at approximately 11:17 p.m in the Morningside Avenue and Danzig Street area.
On arrival police located Joshua Bernard-Reis, 21, of Toronto, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on October 8, 2023.
On Monday, November 6, 2023, Jermaine Goode, 19, of Markham, was arrested and charged with:
- First Degree Murder
He appeared virtually at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 10 a.m., in room 103.
On Thursday, January 25, 2024, the Toronto Police Service, with the assistance of Peel Regional Police, located, arrested and charged a male youth, 16*, with:
- First Degree Murder
- Attempted Murder
He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Youth Justice Court, 10 Armoury Street, on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 606.
Update: Detective Sergeant Price announced on January 2nd 2025, that two additional arrests have been made concerning this investigation.
On Monday, December 30. 2024, Tyler Brown, 21, of Toronto was arrested and charged with:
- First Degree Murder
- Attempted Murder
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, December 31st, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 103.
On Monday, December 30. 2024, an 18-year-old man of Brampton, who was a Young Person at the time of the incident and therefore cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act*, was arrested and charged with:
- Attempted Murder
- First Degree Murder
