Update: Gregory David KEEPNESS charged – Regina homicide 7 – Police investigate the homicide of Jessica Anne Matechuck on Ottawa St

Regina police were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block Ottawa St, on Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at approximately 10:17 p.m.

A deceased adult female in a residence. Police secured the scene and requested the Coroner and additional police resources. The victim has been identified as Jessica Anne Matechuck.

An investigation by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service determined the death was a homicide. The cause of death has not been released.

Update: Gregory David KEEPNESS, of Regina, is charged with:

Second-Degree Murder [CC 235(1)]

Police said KEEPNESS was also deemed to be responsible for an unrelated stabbing assault of an adult female on October 8, 2023 which occurred on the 2100 block of Broder Street, and an unrelated robbery on October 18, 2023, where an adult male was also stabbed.

For these occurrences, KEEPNESS was also charged with:

2 X Attempt Murder [CC 239]; and
Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)].
