The 2023 Toronto Homicide Victim List is available here
Toronto police were called to the report of a shooting in the area near Queen Street and Carlaw Avenue on July 7th at approximately 12:30pm.
On arrival police located a woman in her 40’s suffering from gunshot injuries. The victim was transported to hospital in life threatening condition, where she died of her injuries. The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Karolina Huebner-Makurat.
Toronto police said three individuals were involved in an altercation, that led to shots being fired, and the woman who was struck was not part of the altercation.
Police are searching for two suspects:
- Suspect #1 male black,
- 6’0″, med build,
- white shirt with blood on it –
- Susp #2 male black,
- wearing dark t-shirt w/ floral print,
- blue jeans
- last seen on foot on Queen St towards Boston Ave
Update: Toronto Police announced on July 13th that Damian Hudson, 32, of Toronto has been arrested and charged with:
- Second Degree Murder
Update: On Monday, August 14, 2023, a second suspect was arrested. Ahmed Mustafa Ibrahim, 20, of Toronto, has been charged with:
- Manslaughter
- Robbery
- Fail to Comply with Probation
On Monday, August 14, 2023, Khalila Zara Mohammed, 23, of Pickering, was arrested and charged with:
- Accessory After the Fact to an Indictable Offence
- Obstruct Justice
Police continue to search for a suspect described as male, 18-25 years old, average height, slim build, with long hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a black baseball hat, a black North Face hoodie, dark coloured jeans and white shoes.
Update February 7th, 2024
The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the third suspect in this Homicide investigation.
Ahmed Ali, 19, of Toronto, is wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for:
- Manslaughter
- Robbery with a Firearm
He is described as being 6’0″ tall, approximately 130 lbs, with a thin build, and long dark hair worn in braids.
Det. Henri Marsman said they believe the suspect could have fled to Somalia. Toronto police are “making efforts through our partners with Interpol.”
