Calgary police responded to reports of gunfire in the 7000 block of 20 Street S.E shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 10th.

When officers arrived they found a man lying outside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Less than an hour later, at about 1:20 a.m., Tsuut’ina Nation Police officers spotted a blue Nissan Sentra driving erratically. The car turned south near the Elbow River bridge onto Weaselhead Road. When officers attempted to pull it over, the driver sped off, eventually stopping near Buffalo Run Blvd. Four men ran from the vehicle.

With support from Tsuut’ina Nation Police, Calgary police detained three of the individuals, one located near Buffalo Run Blvd. and two others arrested several hours later in Palliser. Investigators believe the fourth man escaped by crossing the Stoney Trail pedestrian bridge into Woodbine and may have later entered Oakridge, Cedarbrae, or Palliser. He is described as having a dark complexion and wearing dark clothing and dark shoes. Police say he may have approached residents after 1:20 a.m. seeking assistance or a ride.

The Calgary Police Service is asking anyone who may have encountered this individual or captured relevant video footage to contact investigators.

Of the three people taken into custody, one has been released. The remaining two are being held on unrelated warrants. None of the individuals are residents of the Tsuut’ina Nation.

A burned vehicle was discovered west of Weaselhead Road on Tsuut’ina land, and investigators are working to determine whether it is linked to the earlier shooting.

An autopsy completed Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the victim’s identity as 32-year-old Feysal Osman ABDUL-AZIZ.

“This was a targeted attack with ties to organized crime,” said Inspector Darren Smith of the CPS Major Crimes Section. “Although the overall number of homicides is lower than in previous years, we recognize how deeply violent incidents affect the community. There is no ongoing risk to the public, and our team is committed to moving this investigation forward.”
