Update: Police arrest Trevis Mcleod in relation to a triple homicide of a mother and her two children in Portage la Prairie

RCMP responded to a house fire on 7th Street SE in Portage la Prairie on April 10th at approximately 1:00am.

When police arrived the fire department was already on scene.  Once the fire was extinguished, a 32-year-old woman and two children, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, were located deceased inside the home.

Police took an adult male into custody, however he had been released the same day.

Investigators have determined the victims sustained injuries that were not associated to the fire, and their deaths have been confirmed to be the result of homicide.

On April 12, 2022, RCMP announced that Trevis Mcleod, 50, is wanted for Arson and three counts of second Degree Murder of his wife and two children. Trevis Mcleod was seen in Winnipeg on April 11 and April 12. It is believed that he remains in the Winnipeg area.

Trevis McLeod’s confirmed movements in Winnipeg include:

  • On the afternoon of Monday, April 11, Trevis was seen on Magnus Avenue.
  • On Tuesday, April 12, at 1:30 am, Trevis was in the St. Boniface area.
  • On Tuesday, April 12, at 2:20 pm, Trevis was at the Millenium Library and shortly thereafter, walked through the downtown skywalk.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a dark colored ball cap, black coat, black pants, black shoes and is carrying a black bag.

It is believed that he does not have access to a vehicle and will be on foot.

Update April 16th
RCMP with the Winnipeg Police Service arrested Trevis McLeod without incident in downtown Winnipeg on April 15th at approximately 8:30pm. McLeod has been turned over to RCMP Major Crime Services.
