Update: No charges are being laid in relation to the homicide, as the suspect has since died – Police Identify Ermiya Zerzghi, 28, as Victim in North Edmonton Homicide

On Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, around 4:45 p.m., police responded to a welfare check at a home near 157 Avenue and 130A Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a man who had died under suspicious circumstances.

The case has since been turned over to the Homicide Section. An autopsy conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiner on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, determined that 28-year-old Ermiya Zerzghi died from blunt-force injuries to the head and compression of the neck. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Update December 3rd
Edmonton police announced that no charges are being laid in relation to the homicide, as the suspect has since died.

Homicide detectives are not seeking any additional suspects.
