Update: Gafoor found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2021 Miller Lake homicide of Christina Yadram

OPP were called to a wooded area near Scugog Lane, in Johnston Harbour — Pine Tree Point Provincial Nature Reserve, on October 10th, on the report of a deceased woman at approximately 3:00pm.

Police have not released the cause of death but have confirmed that the deceased is 36-year-old Christina Yadram of Toronto. Police arrested Wazhir Gafoor of Shelburne on October 11th, and charged him with first-degree murder in connection to her death.

On March 5th 2025, a jury ultimately found Gafoor guilty of first-degree murder, which carries an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.

According to CP24 The trial revealed that Gafoor rented a U-Haul van spotted in Moonstone. The Crown argued that Yadram was asphyxiated and that Gafoor viciously attacked her in an attempt to cause a miscarriage. Yadram’s was found inside the rental van, and Gafoor’s fingerprints were found on the duct tape used to restrain her.
