Quebec police responded to a 911 cal at a home on des Anglais Road in Mascouche on January 16th at approximately 4:00am.

Police arrived to find a man and a woman in their 30’s suffering from serious injuries. The couple were transported to hospital where the woman died of her injuries. The victim has been identified as Jaël Cantin, 33.

According to reports the couple’s 6 children, aged between one and twelve, were at the home at the time of the attack.

Update January 18th
Benoit Cardinal, 33, was arrested on the evening of January 16th and charged with second-degree murder in the killing of his wife Jaël Cantin.
