The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over a missing person investigation in Maple Ridge, which was originally launched by the Ridge Meadows RCMP in July 2025.
The case involves Jessica Cunningham, a local resident who was last seen in June 2025 and reported missing the following month.
Timeline of Events:
- August 26, 2025: Ridge Meadows RCMP were on scene at a residence in the 22800 block of Gillis Place as part of their ongoing investigation. Due to evidence suggesting criminal involvement, the area was secured and IHIT was brought in to assist. The Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) also joined the investigation.
- During their search, investigators discovered human remains. IHIT is now working closely with the BC Coroners Service to determine the identity of those remains.
- August 27, 2025: As a result of the investigation, the BC Prosecution Service charged Mylie Barron with indignity to human remains. He is currently in custody.
Ongoing Investigation:
IHIT has confirmed that its involvement is directly linked to the disappearance of Jessica Cunningham. Police have released her name and photograph as they continue to build a timeline of her activities leading up to the missing persons report.

Update: IHIT has confirmed that the human remains located in the 22800 block of Gillis Place were those of 43-year-old Jessica Cunningham.
