Hagersville apartment fire fatality deemed a homicide

Emergency crews were called to the report off a fire in a building on Main Street North in Hagersville around 8:51 pm on July 29th.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze to find a deceased person. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Tyler King of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

According to OPP it’s unclear whether the person died as a result of the blaze, however, they are investigating the death as a homicide.

OPP is asking anyone who may have any information to assist with the investigation to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.

Update August 5th
Joseph Tobicoe, 36, of Hagersville was arrested on August 4th, and charged with first-degree murder and arson.
