Swan River RCMP responded to a home on Lorne Avenue following the discovery of human remains after a house fire was extinguished on October 17th at approximately 4:40pm.

The deceased has been identified as a 68-year-old man from Birch River. Police have not released the cause of death but said they are treating it as a homicide.

21-year-old Lincoln Chartrand-Flett had been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
