Edmonton police were dispatched to the area of 167 Avenue and 76 Street on the report of a weapons complaint. While on-route to the complaint, police were notified of an accident involving numerous parked vehicles.
Police arrived at the scene of the collision to find Curtis Michael Patko, 36, suffering from stab wounds. Despite life saving efforts by paramedics, Patko died at the scene.
Police arrested a 23-year-old ban who was believed to be involved in the weapons complaint. Homicide detectives have since charged Jesse Isaiah Rachar, 23, with second degree murder.
