St Catharines 2026 Homicide Victim List

A 34-year-old St. Catharines man has been charged with second-degree murder after a man died following an assault on Lakeshore Road on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Niagara police responded to the incident around 11:50 a.m. and found the victim suffering from serious traumatic injuries. He was taken to hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services but later died.

The accused, Brandon Marzec, was arrested at a nearby residence by the Emergency Task Unit. He was also injured and taken to hospital. The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and taken over the investigation.

Marzec remains in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on August 8. Because the SIU is investigating, Niagara police said they cannot release additional details.
