44-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Saint-Michel Apartment, Montreal’s 15th Homicide of the Year

Officers were dispatched to a Saint-Michel apartment at approximately 1:45 p.m. for a wellness check on August 15th. Upon arriving, they found the woman unresponsive. They also discovered her 51-year-old partner suffering from stab wounds to his upper body.

Police confirmed Sunday morning that the woman’s death is being investigated as a murder.

According to Johany Charland, a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the woman’s partner is being treated as a suspect. He has not been arrested and remains in hospital, where his condition is considered life-threatening.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after officers arrived at the apartment on 9th Avenue, near Crémazie Boulevard East. Police said she also appeared to have suffered stab wounds, although the full extent of her injuries has not yet been established.

Update: the 51-year-old man was pronounced deceased in the hospital on August 20th.

The death is the 15th homicide reported in Montreal so far this year.
