12-Year-Old Edmonton Boy, Fiasal Hussein, Identified as Victim in Athabasca Homicide

Alberta RCMP are investigating the death of a 12-year-old Edmonton boy whose remains were discovered near Athabasca earlier this week.

Athabasca RCMP responded to a report of found human remains at approximately 3:26 a.m. on August 6, 2026. Following an autopsy conducted the next day at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton, authorities determined that the boy’s death was a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 12-year-old Fiasal Hussein, who was from Edmonton.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is now working to identify those responsible and is asking the public for assistance. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was travelling along Highway 813 near Calling Lake or Range Road 213A, also known as the “C-Road,” between midnight and 4:30 a.m. on August 6.

Anyone who was in the area during that time and may have dash-camera footage, or anyone with information that could help investigators, is asked to contact Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-4252.

Even seemingly minor details or video footage could be important to the investigation.
