Toronto’s 10th Homicide of 2026: Man Found Dead in Downtown Garage Near Dundas and Seaton

Toronto Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a private garage near Dundas Street and Seaton Street in downtown Toronto on Saturday morning.

According to investigators, officers responded to a medical complaint call around 9:22 a.m. on May 23, 2026. Upon arrival, police were reportedly flagged down about an unresponsive individual discovered in a laneway garage. The victim was found suffering from obvious traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a post-mortem examination, authorities officially ruled the death a homicide.

Police initially identified the victim as a woman, but investigators later confirmed the deceased is male.

The case is now being handled by the Toronto Police Service Homicide and Missing Persons Unit.

Investigators describe the victim as approximately 5-foot-6 with a medium build, dark hair, and dark eyes. He is believed to possibly be of Asian descent.

At the time he was found, the victim was wearing a black jacket with the words “Vision Youth Leaders Program” written on it, along with a silver necklace featuring a heart-shaped pendant with wings and a clear stone in the centre.

Police have released images as part of the ongoing investigation.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, Boubacar Dembele, 30, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with

  1. Second degree murder.  

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, May 26, at 10:00a.m., in room 106.
