Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Queen Street South and Charles Street on August 13th at approximately 10:20 pm, on reports of shots fired outside a business.
On arrival police located 18-year-old Joshua Tarnue with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family with funeral expenses.
The suspect in this homicide is described as a slim Black male, wearing white and black shoes, black pants, a dark jacket with the hood up and a lighter shirt underneath, and a baseball hat. He is known to frequent the plaza located at 91 Queen Street South in Kitchener. The suspect was last seen running on Queen Street South towards Joseph Street.
In September & October 2023, two other individuals, a 25-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, both from Hamilton, were charged with Manslaughter in connection to this homicide.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Habiton Solomon, 20, from Hamilton.
Mr. Solomon is wanted for Second Degree Murder and is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, please do not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately.
Update: Solomon was arrested after being observed by police during a criminal investigation in Hamilton’s downtown core. Unaware that he was wanted, officers attempted to make the arrest before Solomon fled. He was pursued and eventually apprehended. At that time, officers discovered Solomon was wanted for an earlier shooting in Hamilton and a suspect in a Waterloo homicide.
