Update September 2nd 2026: Danika Lawrie pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to murder.
According to CTV News, she admitted to luring Deschamps to a parking lot by arranging a fake cocaine deal, knowing he was in danger. One of the men she brought with her then shot Deschamps before Lawrie drove them away.
Justice Lynne Saunders called Lawrie’s actions “shocking, appalling and horrific.” Her lawyer said she regrets her actions and has been receiving addiction treatment and counselling while in custody.
Lawrie will serve 18 months in jail, followed by two years of probation. She is also banned from contacting Deschamps’ family.
