The 2025 Alberta Homicide Victim List is available here

On August 12, 2025, around 3:10 a.m., Peace River RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in the downtown area.

The victim, 35-year-old Anton Vincent Carifell of McLennan, Alberta, was found conscious and taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries the following day.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as homicide due to a firearm. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.

On August 14, a 25-year-old Peace River resident was arrested and charged with manslaughter, several firearms-related offences, pointing a firearm, and assault with a weapon. The accused is in custody and scheduled to appear in court on August 18, 2025.
