Maple Ridge RCMP is investigating a shooting that left a 56-year-old man critically injured and later claimed his life.
Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 11400 block of 236 Street at around 10 p.m. on August 18, 2026. When officers arrived, they found the man inside a vehicle outside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition and remained there until August 31, when he died from his injuries.
The Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation, while Integrated Forensic Identification Services is processing the scene. Police say the investigation remains in its early stages as investigators work to determine exactly what happened and what led to the shooting.
Investigators continue to gather evidence, speak with witnesses and search the area for surveillance footage and potential dash-cam video.
