Two Teens Charged with Murder in Death of Steven Gordon Loonfoot in Winnipeg

On February 23, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a male assaulted on Qu’Appelle Avenue.

Officers found the victim, 45-year-old Steven Gordon Loonfoot, suffering from severe upper body injuries. Despite emergency medical care, Loonfoot later died in the hospital.

He was a member of Garden Hill First Nation and had lived in Winnipeg for several years.

16-year-old male was arrested in the area shortly after the incident, while a second 16-year-old male was arrested in the first 100 block of Victory Place later that day. Both were charged with Second Degree Murder after consultation with the Manitoba Prosecution Service.
