St Catharines 2026 Homicide Victim List
A months-long Niagara Regional Police investigation into what has now been confirmed as St. Catharines’ first homicide of 2026 has resulted in multiple charges against a Toronto man. Although the death occurred in January, it was not publicly identified as a homicide until charges were announced in July.
Police were initially called to a home in St. Catharines on Jan. 28, 2026, after a 37-year-old man was found dead. Investigators believed the death was the result of a drug overdose, prompting the Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit to launch a criminal investigation into the suspected drug trafficking that allegedly contributed to the man’s death.
The investigation led to the arrest of 37-year-old Anthony Clarke during a traffic stop on July 13. He has been charged with manslaughter, trafficking fluorofentanyl and cocaine, as well as several counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking after police allegedly seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone pills, and more than $450 in cash.
Clarke remains in custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines. The investigation is ongoing, and police continue to ask anyone with information to contact investigators.
