Investigators said Richard (Ricky) Matchett was last seen on August 9, 2022, at approximately 2 p.m., in Sillikers, N.B. He was reported missing to police on April 30, 2023. 

Police determined Richard Matchett’s disappearance to be suspicious, and the New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) has since taken over the investigation. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

On September 21, 2023, members of the MCU executed a search warrant at a residence on Highway 420 in Sillikers, N.B., as part of the investigation.
