The 2025 Ontario Homicide Victim List is available here

West Division officers responded to a call for a wellness check near Fairport Road and Third Concession Road on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

On arrival, police discovered a man deceased inside a vehicle. The area was immediately secured, and the Coroner’s Office was called to the scene.

Following a post-mortem examination, the death was officially ruled a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Joshua Ibbitson, 47, of Markham.

The Homicide Unit has now taken over the investigation and is asking anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have been in the area or noticed any suspicious activity between the evening of April 29 and the morning of April 30, 2025.
