Surrey – IHIT investigating a stabbing that killed a woman and sent a man and a child to the hospital.

Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a stabbing, inside a townhouse in the area of 66 Avenue near 127A Street in the Newton just before 9:00 p.m on October 20th.

Police arrived to find three injured victims. Baljit Kaur, a woman in her late 20’s died of her injuries, a man who has been identified as Jagjit Singh and a 2-year-old child sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to reports the suspect fled the scene but was located nearby and taken into custody. Police said, “Initial indications are that this is an incident of family violence.” IHIT says all of the people involved, including the suspect, lived in the home and were part of the same family.

The suspect who has been identified as Harpreet Singh, has been charged with 2nd-degree murder, aggravated assault.
